Key projects have ranged from multi-million-pound extra care housing schemes to the restoration of the Leeds Art Gallery and Library, delivering major improvements across the region.
Due to continued growth within the business, NPS Leeds are looking to recruit a Trainee Technician on a casual basis, in this role you will undertake a formal training programme to learn and gather knowledge of practical skills, business systems and procedures, and experience in applying these in a scientific, technical or engineering environment.
Following completion of a technical apprenticeship, the individual would typically gain accreditation in the subject area.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake a range of technical, engineering and scientific activities, which may include laboratory or desk top investigations and experimentation in a specialist field.
- Analyse, interpret, and evaluate relevant functional information, concepts and ideas and use these to develop experiments, investigations, and solutions to problems.
- Work independently or as part of a wider business, engineering, technical or scientific team, take responsibility for the quality of the work undertaken, to deliver value to the organisation.
- Identify solutions to problems, identify areas of business improvement and propose innovative scientific, technical, or business ideas.
- Gain an understanding and following of health, safety and environmental guidelines required within the section or unit.
- Gain experiences of business processes and the methods, techniques and way in which business is carried out to understand how the organisation applies its core values to the business environment and gain competitive advantage.
- Gain insight and understanding of the market and commercial environment, including customers and customer service and the methods for managing and co-ordinating all customer contact and customer service.
- Undertake personal training and development, as required, to build own skill, knowledge, and competence in a range of business situations.
About this role:
Requires secondary education with an orientation towards technical subjects including engineering, science, and mathematics.
The job requires no previous industrial or business experience; the focus of the role is in gathering experience of products and the business environment.
The Trainee Technician typically follows a formal programme where the schedule sets out work experiences in several relevant environments either within a business, or within a specific function, for example, engineering, or other technical environments, etc.
