£36,393.24 Per annum
37 Hours per week
Medway Norse is one of the biggest joint ventures within Norse Group, partnering with Medway Council to deliver a growing number of frontline public services to residents, such as Grounds Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Waste and Environmental management, compliance, transport, etc.
To support Medway Norse and Norse Group continuous compliance to all H&S Law and Legislation in the workplace. To be part of a team of SHEQ Advisor’s assisting the Group’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manager in the delivery of the Group’s strategy and act as the link to Medway Norse in promoting and implementing change. To assist Medway Norse and Norse Group in the fulfilment of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Strategy and compliance with Health & Safety regulations and the promotion of certified ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 accreditations. Assist the Senior Management Team at Medway Norse in delivering the Joint Venture model in Partnership with Medway Council.
Main Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate active listening skills, encouraging feedback from all levels across the business.
- Drive continuous improvement in pursuit of excellence, with a desire to engage, influence and create a culture that minimises risk and drives compliance and quality.
- Assist with investigations, accidents and near misses by identifying trends and assessing root cause with clear actions recorded and implemented.
- Work closely with Managers, Supervisors, and employees to ensure that all risk assessments, method statements, site safety, safe working practices and COSHH assessments are suitable for the task undertaken and reviewed regularly.
- Work closely with Service Managers to install a ‘safety culture’ in line with Norse Group’s best practices.
- Lead the local Health, Safety, and Environmental Committee by chairing monthly meetings, highlighting hot topics and encouraging ideas and participation.
- Carry out and assist with health, safety, environmental and quality audits, and inspections, reporting outcomes and corrective actions to the responsible Service Manager.
- Assist in complying and implementation of environmental policies and practices, ensuring compliance with current environmental legislation.
- Assist with the collation and analysis of performance data relating to Medway Norse’s contractual and legal obligations.
- Keep up to date with any relevant changes in Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and initiatives and cascade information to Managers and Supervisors.
- Attend meetings as required by the Group Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to include strategic consultation meetings and any specific service specialist projects.
Candidate Requirements:
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Technical Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH) working towards or willing to work towards, Certified Membership (CertIOSH)
- Proven relatable experience in a similar SHEQ role.
- Evidence of completing health, safety, and environmental audits.
- Report writing and analysing data to determine trends and root causes.
- Ability to carry out thorough investigations including RIDDOR investigations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal.
- Confident liaising with all levels of the business, Council Officers and Councillors with the ability to influence and persuade.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, priorities and manage own workload, meeting deadlines set.
- Ability to prepare concise written documents whilst selecting the appropriate tone for the topic and reader.
- Ability to work on own initiative as an individual or as a team member.
