Norfolk Partnership Laboratory (NPL) provide an experienced testing and consultancy service to the construction industry, performing a wide range of tests both onsite and at the laboratory, offering specialist advice to our clients.

 

We are currently recruiting for a Project Technicain to join the laboratory team based at County Hall in Norwich.

 

The position will facilitate the delivery of the surface dressing design programme in the pavement & structures service area of the highway’s laboratory. Performing data collection (onsite) and input on to our GIS system to meet the objectives of the client in the delivery of the future surface dressing programme. The role will also include in its duties the input of past surfacing schemes on the GIS system, the use of CAD to input collected data and the manipulation of data using Excel. There is an element of Project management within the Pavement and structures team.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • To support the Surface treatments engineer in the delivery of the Surface dressing design programme.
  • Maintaining and developing Geographic Information System (GIS) with the surface treatments and surfacing.
  • Creating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) plans for supply chain.
  • Stand in for the surface treatments engineer (when unavailable) at monthly progress meeting for surface treatments on behalf of the Authority.
  • Support the Project engineer (Pavement & Structures) in the production of reports into the investigation of roads and structures.
  • Support all services areas of the laboratory with appropriate level.
  • Support the Senior Engineer in providing existing/potential clients with reporting.
  • Manage and control the site operations including traffic management and sub-contractors to ensure no utility strikes (buried utilities) and the safety of all personal involved and often members of public.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Capable of using Microsoft Excel
  • Able to follow defined guidance thoroughly to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Articulate communication skills, confident engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ambassador for Norse when dealing with external companies and businesses.
  • Capable of managing your own workload, multi-tasking and prioritising effectively
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability and willing to working in dust and outside on various construction sites in all weathers.
  • May be required to work out of Norfolk including some overnight stays and work unsociable hours
  • Full UK Driving License with C1+E entitlement
