Courier - Barnsley Town Centre

£23,126.48 FTE = £12.02 / hour

30 Hours per week

Norse is working in partnership with Barnsley Borough Council to deliver a comprehensive range of first-class Courier services across the local areas.

We are looking to recruit a Courier on a part time basis, you'll be required to work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day. between 7.45am and 1.45pm

In this role you will provide an efficient and effective courier, mail and recycling service to public buildings within Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and other key customers:

  • Driving and use of company vehicles in accordance with practices, procedures and requirements contained in the Driver Handbook.
  • Abide by the operational and safe working procedures and practices as issued by Barnsley Norse
  • The delivery and collection of internal and external mail to customer premises
  • The delivery/collection and secure transfer of confidential and non-confidential archive boxed records/archive information, ensuring that supporting documentation complies with documentation supplied by Records Management during delivery/pickup
  • Deliver and collect items including internal/external mail, book requests, supplies and cash
  • Manual handling of items to be delivered including the safe loading and unloading of the vehicle. Awareness of Health and Safety responsibilities and procedures whilst performing task
  • Attend relevant training and development courses as identified by management
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle, particularly the load compartment in view of its use for transporting goods and archive boxes
  • Liaison with Fleet Services with regard to arrangements for vehicle servicing/repairs
  • Use of mobile communication equipment
  • Completion of relevant service documentation

Our Successful Candidate:

We will ideally be looking for you to demonstrate previous cleaning or caretaking experience in a previous role, alongside;

  • Knowledge of basic site health & safety
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of building relationships with our clients on-site
  • Confident working independently to your own initiative
  • Good organisational skills, with attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence
