Caretaker - Outdoor Markets

£23126.48 FTE = £12.02 / hour

30 Hours per week

Barnsley Norse, working in partnership with Barnsley Borough Council, are currently recruiting a caretaker for the outdoor markets in the town centre. This position is being offered on a part time, permanent contract working 30 hours per week,  4.30am- 7.30am and 4pm-7pm.

The role 

As the Caretaker, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary caretaking team with the responsibility of assembly and maintaining of the market stall, ensuring that the facilities around the market sites are maintained to the highest of standards, providing a clean and safe environment for all on site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out operational duties in all weathers including Erection and dismantling of parasols, trestle tables and lighting as required, litter picking, bin emptying, cleansing of the area, winter maintenance duties and driving vehicles 
• Be responsible for the general maintenance both internally and externally of the premises 
• Liaise and collaborate with contractors and colleagues to ensure safe systems of working are adopted 
• Undertake minor repairs and maintenance to premises and equipment when required in line with Norse Health and Safety requirements 

Shift pattern: 

Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri, Sat, 6 hours a day, split shift 4.30am- 7.30am and 4pm-7pm

Our successful candidate 

• UK Driving license is preferred but no essential
• Previous experience in a similar role with an understanding of Health and Safety
• Able to work within a team or on your own
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
